TOPIC 1.1.6Discuss problems that may arise as a part of data migration
Thorough planning ensures that you have everything to meet all the prerequisites for the successful setup and installation of the system.
Planning minimizes errors during installation and enables a quicker upgrade or installation. This planning information helps you integrate the system into your data center, plan power and environmental needs, and prepare for any unique configurations you need to handle.

To ensure that planning is completed successfully, assign a planning project manager to provide a documented plan that includes the following items:
·                     A timeline for the activities
·                     Each major activity phase and the intended outcome
·                     A list of responsibilities and the person assigned
·                     A current system diagram and configuration listing. Include all hardware content, software content, cabling, and other pertinent configuration items, particularly if this is a modification to an existing system
Possible problems include
• Incompatible file formats
• Data structure differences
• Validation rules
• Incomplete data transfers
• International conventions on dates, currencies & character sets
